Light Show

Well, alas, I have no pictures for this post.

It was exciting and sometimes spectacular.  The light show that is.
I was picking up my daughter at a friend's home this evening.  The parents are great people.  Their love for their children is obvious every moment.  And their hearts are big enough that they have a ton of love still left for other children, like my daughter, and the adults who come through their doors.
I wasn't there long this evening before I was offered dinner (we are talking a very filling 3 course meal here).  I had not ate my evening meal so it was easy to convince me to sit down to the fresh-from-the-garden salad, the steak dinner and the home made butterscotch pie.  I'm a push-over, aren't I?
As I ate, the couple sat with me and chatted, the children coming in from the large yard to check on us every now and then.
The Mom remembered there was a meteor shower happening and tonight would be one of the best nights to watch.  Sure enough, the clouds cleared.  The kids got down on the ground and laid on their backs on blankets to keep warm.  So clear was the evening that beyond the close stars we could easily see the Milky Way.  No light pollution near this county home.
We oooowed and ahhhhed as we saw the meteors.  Some were quite bright.  I wish I had pictures to post.
As we were watching, it occurred to me that many generations ago, God told Abraham to look up into the night sky and count the stars - an impossible task.  God told Abraham that he would have as many descendants as there were stars in the sky.
The stars haven't changed.  We were looking at the same stars that Abraham would have been looking at all those years ago.  The very same stars that the wise men would have seen as they studied the heavens and then discovered that very special star, the one that announced the birth of Christ.
It leaves me in awe,  that we can see the same night sky they did.  I really wish I had pictures for you.
It was quite the realization and quite the show.
It was in a backyard with giggles and chatter.  An educational show unmatched by any I have ever paid for.
Easy, simple but so special.  Thanks Candy & Tim.
