Soccer Strays

Both my children play soccer in the summer.  And they are both responsible for their equipment, other than washing the jerseys, which somehow remains my chore.

Each child has a reusable shopping bag to put their equipment in.  They weren't always consistent about doing that chore.  And sometimes that meant seeing their friends at the soccer field a wee bit late.  Both my children think that is embarrassing.  Lucky me.


After a harrowing 15 minutes looking for a shin pad (that they know they are responsible for) they quickly learned to put such things in their 'home' (the bag) as soon as they take them off and wipe them down....  ok, so they don't always wipe them down. Hardly ever.  Ewwww!  

But they know where to find it when they need it.  No getting upset with mom because they know they are responsible. 

And mom has no need to go rooting through everything in the house trying to find the missing item. 

That's better, hmmm?  Soccer nights have become a bit easier.
